Tracey’s professional career encompasses 32 years of experience in intellectual property law with a broad base of expertise in patents and designs, specialising in the complex mechanical arts.
Tracey actively shares her specialist patent knowledge as a regular invited guest lecturer at two Melbourne universities and has travelled extensively in US, Europe and Japan providing lectures on Australian, New Zealand and South-east Asian patent law to corporate clients and patent firms. Since 2020, Tracey has transitioned to an online environment to continue her schedule of technical presentations to international audiences.
She is also an extensive publisher as a Chapter author for Lahore's Patents, Trade Marks and Related Rights (Chapter 3) , and additionally is the writer of over 30 technical patent law articles.
Tracey seeks to pass on some of her vast experience by taking an active role in training, including a regular case law study group which keeps abreast of Australian case law developments.
Some of her career successes include drafting the original patent applications for the Formway BE chair (winner of numerous awards including Gold award at the NeoCon). Tracey also partnered with Australian manufacturer Lucas Mill to successfully pursue infringement of their Chinese patent, resulting in successful outcomes at Qingdao Intermediate People’s Court, Shandong High Court and invalidation actions at SIPO, appearing in a national television broadcast about the Lucas Mill Case (ABC’s Landline).
