FPA warmly welcomes Dr Adelia Lin as Principal in our Singapore office.

Adelia is a patent attorney specialising in life sciences and biotechnology. She is passionate about innovation and transforming scientific breakthroughs into robust protection. Adelia has worked with both local and international clients, ranging from start-ups and research institutions to multinational pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, to secure and manage patent protection across Southeast Asia and internationally.

Adelia regularly advises on patent strategies that coordinate filings and prosecution across multiple jurisdictions in the region, including Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines, and Brunei, to develop efficient and commercially aligned IP strategies. Her practice includes drafting and prosecuting patent applications, managing international patent portfolios, and advising on patentability and freedom-to-operate matters.

With years of experience in Southeast Asia, Adelia is well-positioned to help clients navigate the region’s diverse patent systems while aligning protection strategies with broader commercial objectives.

Before entering private practice, Adelia was a research scientist in the field of stem cell biology. She undertook her PhD studies and postdoctoral work in Australia and Singapore, where she investigated the role of stem cells in human disease.

This appointment underscores our strategic focus on Southeast Asia and our commitment to expanding capability in key markets and core technologies.

Managing Principal John Dower noted:

“Adelia joins us at an exciting time in the firm’s history. Her significant experience in generating and securing targeted patent coverage for clients in the chembio sectors will play a key role as we continue to grow and evolve our presence across the region.”

Singapore Director Karen Bentley commented:

“It is such a pleasure to have Adelia join our team in Singapore. Adelia’s commencement is representative of the continuing growth of our Singapore office, and more importantly, a very welcome and exciting addition to our chemistry and biotech team and rapidly expanding practice.”
