Chris is a registered Australian and New Zealand patent attorney and has been practising in this field for more than 25 years. He specialises in patent work particularly related to the physics and engineering disciplines, including the fields of electrical and electronic engineering, computer hardware and software, and medical technology.

Chris has extensive experience in matters relating to the use and exploitation of intellectual property rights through licensing and other commercialisation routes. Key areas of expertise include the drafting and prosecution of patent applications, patent opposition work and advice on patent validity and infringement matters.

Specific technology areas of knowledge and experience include image and audio signal processing, digital telecommunications, electromechanical power switching and control, software and e-commerce, medical diagnostics and tomography, endoprosthetics, automotive engineering, offshore engineering and hydraulic systems.

Following an early career in engineering, Chris became a patent examiner at the European Patent Office. He then spent six years working in the patents department of a leading technology transfer organisation in the United Kingdom, before relocating to Australia in 1998.

As well as being a registered Australian and New Zealand Patent Attorney, Chris is a UK and European Patent Attorney. His skills in several European languages, his experience in international transactions and his engineering background all enable him to bring a valuable breadth of clarity and perspective to client needs. Chris also has a very active interest in Chinese IP matters.
