Intellectual Asset Management’s seventh edition of IAM Patent 1000 – The World’s Leading Patent Professionals 2018 has awarded FPA Patent Attorneys (FPA) in the highest category of “Highly Recommended” for patent prosecution.

This market-leading guide identifies and profiles leading private practice patent professionals and firms in the world’s key jurisdictions and this year describes FPA as having a “Reputation for excellence” and a “Major player in the IT space.”

Managing Director and Principal James Cherry is credited for fostering an increase in FPA’s work and clients in South East Asia and as “Championing the rights of many of the world’s leading pharmaceutical outfits at the patent office.”

Principal Tom Gumley is described as “A safe pair of hands for life sciences applications”, while colleague Karen Bentley receives accolades for being a “Source of outstanding scientific and legal acumen who provides proactive and insightful advice while never letting go of the big picture.”

Continuing on the life sciences front, Principal Adam Denley earns his place in the guide for the first time for “Routinely putting out work of the highest quality.” Adam is also recognised for his “Top-notch writing and analysis” and his “Incredible responsiveness” to clients.

Principal John Dower is described as the person to call for those with an electronic or mechanical engineering brief while colleague Carl Harrap is recommended based on his ability to “Condense difficult telecoms concepts into a form the court can understand.”

This announcement follows FPA receiving a Tier 1 ranking for Patent Prosecution in the Managing Intellectual Property IP Stars Patent Firm Survey (Asia) for 2018. In addition, Principals James Cherry, Tom Gumley, John Dower, Chris Bird and Consultant Damian Slizys were included as individual IP Stars in this year’s Managing Intellectual Property rankings.

FPA Managing Director and Principal James Cherry said “These awards are a great reflection of our commitment to working closely with our clients to deliver individual patent strategies and exceptional service. It’s very rewarding to see that our clients appreciate our efforts and I thank them for taking part in the research for both of these leading publications.”
