About Jared
Excited about working with innovators to identify and protect their inventions.
Jared is a registered Trans-Tasman patent attorney with a background in mechanical engineering and medical technology. He is passionate about helping clients develop robust strategies to protect their inventions and enjoys continually learning about emerging technologies.
Jared has extensive experience preparing and prosecuting patent and design applications worldwide, including in Australia, Europe, the Americas, Asia and Africa. He has also advised on validity, infringement and freedom-to-operate matters across a variety of technology areas, and has been involved in a number of oppositions before the Intellectual Property Office of New Zealand.
Prior to joining FPA, Jared spent over 5 years as an Intellectual Property Engineer at a large medical devices company in Auckland, New Zealand, gaining insight into the strategic role of patents and designs throughout a product’s lifecycle from early ideation to end-of-life.
Jared holds a Master’s degree in engineering with first-class honours from the University of Oxford (UK) and has authored a number of peer-reviewed publications, including articles published in the Annals of Biomedical Engineering.
