FPA Patent Attorneys is delighted to announce the promotion of Rohan Williams to Senior Associate, effective from 1 July 2025.
Reflecting on Rohan’s contributions, Principal Carol Burnton commented:

Rohan’s academic journey commenced with a Bachelor of Science and first-class honours in organic chemistry, followed by a PhD in Chemistry studying glycosidases, the enzymes responsible for trimming sugar bonds, including the synthesis of novel inhibitors and substrates for these enzymes. His research expertise was further developed during his postdoctoral tenure at the University of Toronto, focusing on carbohydrate chemistry and biology.
Prior to joining FPA, Rohan worked as a high-end analytical chemist at Intertek PROBE laboratory, giving him an in-depth understanding of the needs and pressures facing industry in Australia.
Since joining FPA in 2018, Rohan has built a thriving local practice by engaging with local clients to provide deep and strategic advice to maximise the value of their patent portfolios. He consistently delivers commercially significant patent portfolios, including portfolios that form the basis of partnerships with Big Pharma and major players in the agricultural space.
Rohan is also a contentious matter specialist, demonstrating exceptional ability in various oppositions, re-examinations and litigation support matters.
