FPA have again had attorneys recognised in the MIP’s Rising Stars in IP 2022 list.
Produced by the IP STARS research team, this publication recognises some of the best up-and-coming intellectual property practitioners in private practice who have contributed to the success of their firms and clients.
Sarah specialises in IP matters for the pharmaceutical and life sciences sectors. She is involved in the management of complex patent portfolios across the US, Europe, Southeast Asia and South America for larger corporations. Sarah also has experience in the development of complex evidence strategies for patent oppositions, acting for both opponents seeking freedom to operate and for patentees defending their rights. Sarah has substantial experience in advising investors as part of due diligence reviews of patent portfolios, including preparing detailed freedom to operate and validity opinions.
Sarah completed her PhD at the Bio21 Institute at the University of Melbourne and conducted three years of postdoctoral research at the Baker IDI Heart and Diabetes Institute. She is an emerging thought leader in the patent attorney profession, and writes a regular column for the Australian Biochemist in relation to IP matters of interest to researchers. Sarah has recently co-authored a book chapter directed to the patentability of diagnostic inventions in Australia.
Danny specialises in the drafting and prosecution of global patent families across the chemical field. Danny completed his Bachelor of Science (First Class Honours) at Monash University before pursuing his PhD at Monash University, focussing on organic synthetic chemistry. Danny has experience advising clients across all chemical sectors with a particular focus on pharmaceutical, veterinary and agrochemical applications of new chemical entities and combinations of known molecules.
During his PhD studies, Danny was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship, spending a year as a visiting scientist at Harvard University. He also completed a course in technology-based entrepreneurship at the Saïd Business School at Oxford University. Danny’s combined experience in academia, the pharmaceutical industry and as a patent attorney means he has a deep understanding of the path of an invention from conception through to commercialisation.
Robbie has specialist expertise in physics and engineering. He graduated from the University of Melbourne with a Master of Engineering degree specialising in mechanical engineering and a Master of Intellectual Property law, also from the University of Melbourne. Robbie has also completed short courses in both CNC machining and welding, providing him with both technical and practical knowledge. Robbie’s enthusiasm manifests itself as ever-present curiosity. His strong technical skills, together with an ability to quickly master a range of technologies, results in high quality and tailored drafting and advice that meets clients’ IP and commercial needs.
FPA Managing Director, John Dower, commented, “I am delighted to see our attorneys recognised in this prestigious list. FPA has a strong group of future leaders who have already achieved a great deal academically and in their dedicated practice areas. It’s great to see that expertise receiving the public recognition it deserves. A special congratulations must also go to Robbie for his first-time ranking in this list.”
Congratulations to Sarah, Danny and Robbie on this well-deserved recognition.
